I'm climbing Everest on 17/11/16 to raise money for dementia and Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity

100% of any money raised will go to the charities (I'm funding the trip myself)

Why I'm doing this!

As I turn the ripe age of 40 I decided it was time to give myself a challenge like I have never done before.

I have got a black belt and I have done fire walks, numerous skydives as a licensed skydiver and also completed an Ironman in Switzerland, but never have I seen the top of the world and that just positively excites me!!

I'd like to see benefit from me doing this arduous 120KM trek.

The most I have ever raised in a single charity challenge is £5000 and I thought I would love to double that just so both of my charities can get a decent amount. However it makes not one bit of difference to me if I raise £1 or £50,000 - however to charities - it will mean so much.

Even if you decide you just want to donate directly to the charities then I am happy that I have just brought some more awareness of these amazing organisations.

Why I Chose Them

My wife's father is suffering from memory dementia and it has been the cruelest of journeys. I would like to see so much more done to help not just the people that suffer from dementia but also the families that have to take on so much of the hardships.

I honestly believe that children should have the most magical and amazing childhood filled with love and laughter. It pains me to think that some children have to spend more time in a hospital than anyone should ever have to. After having my own two boys I decided that I would pick a children’s charity and help those not as fortunate.

I would like to think that most people can donate a couple of pounds into the pot but again even if you just share my link and ask others to help then I would be more than grateful and each charity will get 50/50 of the money.

Simon is a health and fitness coach, an established and successful personal trainer as well as a business owner.

His journey into this field began when he lost his hearing in his left ear. At that time he was an estate agent who had made some money but liked ‘partying’ and eating the wrong food so he had become overweight. He smoked and drank alcohol on a daily basis and more or less lived on fast food.

He became unhappy and soon not only had a body that he was ashamed of but also lost his confidence and motivation to do anything about it. Losing his hearing made this worst, then with breaking his collarbone in a football game (his first attempt to get fit) and his girlfriend leaving him – he got as low as most can go.

He hit rock bottom – from there it could only go in two directions and he chose the one that went ‘up’! He started back into martial arts and soon was training again on a regular basis. As he went further down the road he realized this made him happy so he decided to leave his job of 9 years and set up his own personal training business.

After two years of working with people on a one to one basis he began a company called fitMK Ltd. This was an outdoor group training business and this is the largest and most successful of its type.

He married Jackie in 2010 and is a happy family man with two sons Mathias and Nathan. He enjoys holidays, reading, drawing, intense and hard training sessions as well as Yoga, playing the guitar and singing and is now back working with people this time online on a one to one basis to help them find their way in being healthy and happy
